Celebration

by Simon Scardanelli

/

about

From a collection of unreleased demos, recorded in my flat at 83 Ritherdon Road, Balham, London, in 1981. A TEAC 3340 four track reel-to-reel recorder, a Roland JX3P, CR-78 drum machine, Oberheim OB-SX. Recorded in a little booth I created under a bed on stilts....

lyrics

There's something other worldly
In the sky tonight
One man screams out "the Saviour!"
Another dies in fright
This calls for celebration
If this is really true
The ending of an era
A chance to start anew

And me I welcome gladly
Relieve from this hypocrisy
If one man died for freedom
Why then aren't all men free?
A stupid superstition
Has kept us worlds apart
Strange men have launched the arrow
To pierce the beastie's heart.

Now after all this guessing
The answer's plain as day
Our universe is shrinking
In no uncertain way
How shall we greet our strangers
Who journey from afar
Shall we confess our ignorance
They know who we are
