End of the World

End Of The World
Did you stand in a crowd - all for nothing
Was your voice really heard - above the screams?
Well I’m not really sure I know what you want.
Did you lie in a street - in silent protest
Was your head split in two by the butt of a gun?
Well they’re not giving in - it’s a matter of greed
No they’re not gonna lose what they don’t really need.
They’re insane don’t you know?
and they won’t - they won’t they won’t let go
It’s a power showdown
for the end of the world
Did you march on a city - made of steel
Ring of fire, ring of roses - burning wheel?
Well I’m not sure they noticed cos they don’t give a damn
Were you brave, were you foolish, or were you young -
Was it you put that rose down the barrel of a gun?
Cos I don’t think you noticed the look in his eyes
The hate behind that smile - such a perfect disguise
They’re insane you know
and they won’t let go
It’s a power showdown
for the end of the world
(This is the end of the world
it’s the end of the world
it’s the end of the world)

Wild Flowers

Wild Flowers
She said “I’ll make a cup of tea
then if you want to you can leave
but I’m the kind of girl that you
can really get your teeth into.”
Don’t come with baggage or a plan
I’ll be no trouble to the man
who can find his way around
this neck of the woods”
Boys - pick all the flowers in the garden
and lay down in the meadow with their yearning
but boys, don’t know the scent of sweetened poison
and never know the trouble that they’re in
no boys, don’t know the trouble that they’re in
He said “I’ll take another bite
If this is love I’ll go all night
But you look pale and rather cold
Step out into the moonlight”
“Now that I take a closer look
Your pretty neck that got me hooked
Is full of holes - I wish you’d said
Don’t want happy hereafter”
Boys - pick all the flowers in the garden
and lay down in the meadow with their yearning
but boys, don’t know the scent of sweetened poison
and never know the trouble that they’re in
no Boys, don’t know the trouble that they’re in
She said “I’ll make a cup of tea
then if you want to you can leave
but I’m the kind of girl that you
can really get your teeth into.”
“and if you stick with me” she said,
“you’ll see it’s thrilling to be dead
and as for pain and growing old
well that’s strictly for mortals”

Leave Us Alone

Leave Us Alone
Why do you moan? - all we’re living is the life you gave
Thanks for the home - yeah we like living in a concrete cage
What a view! - all broken teeth and swollen bellies too
There’s a game that we play
Cat and mouse with the cops our way
Eyes in the red, staring at the halogen
Foot on the floor, and smoking the air
And we’re free - in our little piece of paradise
Then the cops, the cops move in.
Same old world, “we never win”.
Leave us alone, alone
Leave us alone, alone
You were bad, they always put you at the back of the room
Were you told - there’s no future for you?
Did it hurt, or did it make a man out of you.
‘Cos you walked, you walked out tall
And their world seemed so very small
Leave us alone, alone
Leave us alone, alone

Wall Street Hustle
VERSE
Amin
My name’s Alessio Rastani
I am such a clever man
I’m dreaming of a crash
Just like the one in ’29
Dmin
A man like me can make his fortune
Amin
from the falling Dow Jones
Dmin Amin
Who cares if profiteering means that people lose their homes?
My name is 99 percent I’m
just a working man
I put a lot of money in a
corporate pension plan
But someone bought and sold my future
like a sack of beans
He gambled all my cash away - just left me
with my dreams.
CHORUS
Amin F E
Wall Street hustle
Amin
Bring on the dancing bear
Wall Street Hustle
We get the lion’s share
Wall Street hustle
Too right the fuck we care.
My name’s Alessio Rastani
I’m so very smug
I play to win - you lose - yeah
Let’s be honest you’ve been mugged
By corporate greed and things our governments
should not allow
our pointless politicians live in bankers pockets now
Wall Street hustle
Bring on the dancing bear
Wall Street Hustle
We get the lion’s share
Wall Street hustle
Too right the fuck we care.

A Dark Horse Damned

A Dark Horse Damned
It started when I was only ten
They gave me drugs
I loved them then
My father said I was the nervous kind
I took their pills to slow my mind
The damage done would last a lifetime
The bright times
Disappeared
Into a sea of foggy second best
One step behind
all the rest.
CHORUS
Is it time - to free my mind
from chains that held me back
from all I could be
Is a light about to shine
On me?
My life corrupted from an early age
I blame myself
I built that cage
She led me down a path of no return
Eleven then, but I had to learn
The damage done would cast a shadow
How could I know
Tenderness
The shameless joy of boyhood lust fulfilled
I won the prize
but lost my will.
CHORUS
Is it time - to free my mind
from chains that held me back
from all I could be
Is a light about to shine
On me?
in praise of juvenile delinquency
a refuge for
ADHD
and I can never live my life as planned
as long as I'm
a dark horse damned
the damage done can't last a lifetime
tell me bright times
will re-appear
It started when I was only ten
they gave me drugs
I loved them then

Resolution Oil

Resolution Oil
Framed by a window sits a mother and her child
Her hair is graying and her hands are wrung with sorrow
A waiting game - she played it dignified and proud
But in her heart there’s one beat missing - beaten, borrowed.
“Oh no, not my love” she cried
“don’t go - the world is cruel -
now there’s a letter on the table, and a knock on the door.”
“Let’s go to war” they cried a bunch of salty lads
“We’ll keep good brotherhood, and faith it will protect us.
Let’s take no prisoners of men with bloodied hands
Out Christian values are the things that will endear us.”
Oh no, not for God they died,
for war - damn brotherhood
It doesn’t matter who you pray to, there’s a knock on the door.
Framed by a blackened ruin stabbing at the sun
Here sits a mother, silent, in her arms a child, dead.
Killed by United Nations resolution oil
killed by young angry men with badges buttons God sent.
Where blood ran red it now flows bilious and green
and in the killing fields of oil the dogs of war cry,
“drill to the depths of hell, down through rotten seam
drill to the rotten core until we’ve bled ‘em all dry”
“Oh no, not for oil” they lied -
“for peace” - damn hypocrites
It doesn’t matter who you pray to, there’s a knock on the door.

If You Could See Me Now

If You Could See Me Now
Well there’s some things you never learn to give
and some things you never learn to take
I don’t mind if it teaches me a lesson
Well if I was hard of hearing
ooh and I was short of breath
I would still find time
I would find a way to listen
Well if you could see me now
And if you could hear me now
Come on back
And make a new arrangement
Well if you would listen now
And find your way somehow
To come on back
And make a new arrangement
Maybe I’m right that must mean I’m wrong
Or maybe I just misunderstood
Heavy is the head that never turns your way
Well if I was hard of hearing
Oh and if I was short of breath
I would still find time
I would find a way to listen
Well if you could see me now
And if you could hear me now
Come on back
And make a new arrangement
Well if you would listen now
And find your way somehow
To come on back
And make a new arrangement

Dark Dog Days

Dark Dog Days
I was walking down the street just the other day
the sky was blue but the people was grey
Wandering like zombies in the ruins of Pompei -
but actually it was just a burnt out Argos
And I stopped to talk to a man at the side of the road
Struggling under the weight of his
heavy load - mostly Footlocker and Sports Direct
I said - “Hey Guy - what time’s the revolution kicking off?”
He said - “I don’t know ‘bout that -
but you can watch it at mine on a brand new 42 inch 3D HD TV
I just scored.”
Gil Scott-Heron’s turning in his grave, and it’s barely cold.
Dark Dog Days, Dark Dog Days
Then I ran into a man from Sky TV - he said
“Have you got anything? Have you seen anything?
Do you know anything? Have you heard anything?
I need something for the six o clock news.”
I said - “yeah - I said - “yeah
I met Piers Morgan once - and he’s a creepy little media whore just like you.”
Dark Dog Days, Dark Dog Days
Yeah I was walking down the street the other day
you know, the one owned by Primark and Starsucks and Costa
not fucking Coffee and Poundland
Yeah could’ve been my town your town any town every town
And I realised that there was absolutely nothing
there was absolutely nothing
that I wanted to buy -
which is just as well cos I ain’t got no cash “We’re all in this together - yeah? We’re all in this together -
so long as the rich stay rich, so long as the rich stay rich”
Yeah and Thatchers ghostie stalks the corridors of power
and she’s not even dead yet.
