Arabica 06:49
Arabica When the light of all experience Throws shadows on the wall And the physical expedition runs aground again And best of all my Turkish garden borders on the sea I'm killing time to walk in circles and risk uncertainty And the sound of burned up riverbeds Echoes down the hall While the jesus boys in danger run away again And as this blazing sun begins to blind me in my sleep A sudden flash of inspiration drags me screaming to my feet Relics on the table And letters on the floor A broken band of perfect madmen Diagnose your problems like before Words and Music © 2002 Simon Scardanelli/Musica Scardanelli

HOW ON EARTH? How on earth can I explain The moments of you that remain Inside of me? For years they lay quite undisturbed Waiting for the perfect word To say to me And still I'm amazed to realise these years That we've spent apart have disappeared And all it took to start this blaze A photograph - a moment saved To look at you And I can still remember this We shared our dreams And yet we just Forgot to be And still I'm amazed to realise these years That we've spent apart have disappeared Yes still I'm amazed to realise these years That we've spent apart have disappeared Words and Music © 2002 Simon Scardanelli/Musica Scardanelli

A MUTUAL SILENCE Well lesson number one is followed by Indecision A mark of my imprecision And lesson number two This incendiary device I give to you The lesson that we're learning from this zone It's all I have to realise that So many days are lost in Mutual silence of the most unfriendly kind Unkindly Untimely way to pass the time of day Who can do pain better than you? It's like a wreck of art And where does the landscape end? Oh tell me now Well here's another moment from your past And I'm haunted by the fact That the last thing on my mind was retribution Well here's another kick in the face for reason Or you'll never understand Without your love I'm nothing And here's another word in your ear for freedom It's not all it's meant to be So many days are lost in Mutual silence of the most unfriendly kind Unkindly Untimely way to pass the time of day Who can do pain better than you? It's like a wreck of art And where does the landscape end And life begin? And when does the real world Play a part in being true And when does the silence end? Oh tell me now Words and Music © 2002 Simon Scardanelli/Musica Scardanelli

Walls 03:25
WALLS How shall I find you? In a sea of changing faces Can we avoid making the same mistake? Who put so many years between us Where shall we meet? Somewhere south of past and future Shall we be wise? Or drown in a sea of love Who put so many loves between us Who put so many years between us Words & Music © 2002 Simon Scardanelli/Musica Scardanelli

Bed of Nails 06:00
BED OF NAILS There's no point in thinking someone's to blame I see the faces and I start to complain They ask me questions I say you're just insane I write a letter to my local complaint DJ I ask you questions, you say nothing at all enough kerblazzers to fill up in the hall There's no sense in acting forty feet tall Easy to recognise they're already falling down Yeah down I might as well end the day I may as well in the same way save my soul No second chances when you play in the rain You're sick and tired your eyes are burning with pain Tears come out of the water time and time and again I ask you something you say nothing has changed my way I won't be round I must have made a mistake I must admit I can make my bed of nails Bed of nails I must have made a mistake don't say it I must admit I can make my bed of nails Bed of nails Bed of nails Words & Music © 1998 Simon Scardanelli/Musica Scardanelli

about

"Bed of Nails" was to have been a full-length album released in 2002. However, due to artistic differences (with himself) and other bizarre happenings Simon scrapped the album after working on the project for over seven years.

However, five tracks are now available on a special mini-album including two songs - "How On Earth?" and "Walls" which have never been heard outside the confines of Scardanelli's studio. Written and recorded in the dingy, dark, damp basement that was Scardanelli's home during these difficult years, these two sparsely produced piano-led songs are intimate confessions of love, loss and longing.
